Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda (CCBU) is solidifying its commitment to the Tusker Lite Mount Rwenzori Marathon by stepping up once again as the official hydration partner for the event’s third edition. This continued partnership underscores CCBU’s dedication to supporting local events that promote both health and tourism.
Scheduled to take place on 24 August in the picturesque Kasese district, the marathon is renowned for its breathtaking route and deep cultural connections. Participants will have the opportunity to compete in races spanning 42km, 21km, 10km, and 5km, offering a challenge for runners of all levels.
As part of its support, CCBU, which operates under the umbrella of Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA), will ensure that runners stay hydrated throughout the event by providing Rwenzori Pure Natural Mineral Water to all competitors. This contribution is crucial to the success of the marathon, as hydration plays a vital role in athlete performance and safety.
This year marks the third consecutive year that CCBU has partnered with the marathon, reflecting the company’s long-term commitment to the event and the region. “We are thrilled to once again be a part of this exciting event that showcases the beauty of the Rwenzori region,” said Kirunda Magoola, the Public Affairs, Communication, and Sustainability Director at CCBU.
To further demonstrate its support, CCBU will be contributing over shs173 million to the marathon. This significant financial donation will help cover the costs associated with organizing the event and ensuring a smooth experience for all participants.
Amos Wekesa, the Team Lead at the Tusker Lite Mount Rwenzori Marathon, expressed his gratitude towards CCBU for their ongoing support. He emphasized that the company’s commitment to providing water is invaluable, as it directly contributes to the success of the marathon. Wekesa also highlighted that such partnerships play a crucial role in promoting Uganda as a premier tourist destination, with events like the Rwenzori Marathon drawing international attention to the country’s natural beauty and cultural richness.
