Graduates 298 Counter-Terrorism Agents
The Commander-in-Chief of the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF), today offic
ially graduated 298 counter-terrorism specialists and 58 trainees in special tactics. These individuals successfully completed nine months of intensive training at the School of Military Intelligence and Security in Migyera, Nakasongola District.
President
Museveni praised the graduates for enduring the rigorous course under
challenging conditions, emphasizing that they acquired top-tier skills despite
limited resources. He commended the UPDF for making the most of what was
available to create a highly effective force, urging all Ugandans to emulate
this resourcefulness.
The
president also recognized the significant progress made through the skills the
graduates mastered, reminding them of the considerable responsibility that lies
ahead and encouraging them to stay committed to fulfilling their duties.
Underscoring
the critical role of intelligence, President Museveni pledged to enhance the
school’s infrastructure to support future training efforts.
Sarah
Nyirabashitsi Mateke, the Minister of State for Defence and Veteran Affairs,
who represented the Minister of Defence and Veteran Affairs, expressed
gratitude to the president for his strategic vision that continues to secure
national defense through ongoing military training. She also urged the
graduates to uphold the core values of the UPDF and remain dedicated to their
duties.
Lt
Gen Kayanja Muhanga, Commander of the Land Forces, representing the Chief of
Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, commended the Ministry of Defence for
its support of the training programs.
Maj
Gen James Birungi, Chief of Defence Intelligence and Security (CDIS) - UPDF,
advised the graduates to serve with humility and integrity, stressing that
their role goes beyond gathering information; it’s about addressing security
threats.
Col.
James Muhumuza, Commandant of the UPDF School of Military Intelligence and
Security, reminded the graduates that training is an ongoing process and
encouraged them to stay informed and committed to serving with integrity. He
concluded by urging them to honor their oath of allegiance and carry the
national flag with pride
